Itinerary

Day 1: Rio de Janeiro
Welcome to Rio de Janeiro where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Travel by open-air jeep to a “favela,” one of the traditional slums of Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival, you will visit the administration, then walk through the many narrow streets of the neighborhood to observe the routine of the community and understand the difference between it and the urbanized city.

Day 2: Rio de Janeiro
Enjoy a scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to the bottom of the Corcovado Hill. Embark on a comfortable train that ascends the mountain of the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. Upon arrival at the top, you can use the panoramic elevators or escalators to arrive at the foot of the statue and then enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Descend the mountain and stop for a delicious Brazilian barbecue lunch. Next, visit Sugar Loaf Mountain, travel to the top in glass cable cars and enjoy a 360-degree view of the entire city including beaches and downtown Rio. (B,L)

Day 3: Rio de Janeiro
Visit neighborhoods that are known for celebrating Afro-Brazilian culture, visit archaeological sites and understand the heritage a little bit better. (B)

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro | Salvador de Bahia
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Salvador de Bahia (not included in land package). Upon arrival, we are met and transferred to the hotel. (B)

Day 5: Salvador de Bahia
Visit a traditional Candomblé house of worship, which was established at the turn of the 20th century. It is also home to a small museum, as well as an artisanal weaving center reviving the age-old tradition of ritual woven cloth. (B)

Day 6: Salvador de Bahia
Enjoy a lower city tour to the quiet waters of the Itapagipe Peninsula where life moves at a slower pace than the bustling upper city. Then continue to the Monserrat district, with its panoramic view of the city, and then on to a thriving market when you can bargain with sellers for local goods and souvenirs. (B)

Day 7: Salvador de Bahia | Recife
Transfer to the airport for flight to Recife (not included in land package). Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours at leisure. (B)

Day 8: Recife
Visit the colonial area of Recife, where you will explore the most important cultural points of the city, such as the Ceramics Museum and Oficina Francisco Brennand, as well as the House and Museum Gilberto Freyre and Magdalena. (B)

Day 9″ Depart Recife
Transfer to the airport for your return flight. (B)
