Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2: Cape Town
Your day begins with a ferry ride (weather permitting) to the UNESCO Heritage site Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent 18 years imprisoned. This historic and emotional trip is a must for those seeking to understand the history of this complex nation. Enjoy a half-day city tour. Drive past landmarks such as the Castle of Good Hope built in 1666, City Hall, the Grand Parade and St. George’s Cathedral: The Anglican Diocese of Desmond Tutu. Witness the art of diamond cutting and jewelry manufacturing by skilled experts. (B)
Option: Ascend to the top to Table Mountain by revolving cable car (weather permitting).
Day 3: Cape Town
Wine tasting and cellar tour in the Paarl Valley with its rolling landscape of vineyards. Continue to the beautiful village of Franschhoek, founded in 1688 by French immigrants, for lunch and another wine tasting at a vineyard. Next is Stellenbosch, the historic heart of the country’s wine region for a final wine tasting. (B)
Day 4: Cape Town
Scenic drive to the southwestern tip of the Cape Peninsula. At Hout Bay, you can take an optional boat trip to Duiker Island to see the Cape fur seals. Next, travel to the Cape Point Nature Reserve with its abundant fauna and flora. Continue along False Bay and stop at historic Simons Town to visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. The last stop is at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, the country’s most famous gardens. (B)
Day 5: Cape Town | Madikwe
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the Madikwe Game Reserve for 3 days of leisure. Your stay here includes all meals, two game drives daily plus bush walks. (B,L,D)

Day 8: Madikwe | Departure from Cape Town
