Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Rai
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon cruise in a long-tailed boat on the wide and slow-moving Mae Kok River and visit one of the minority hill tribe villages.
Day 2: Chiang Rai | Chiang Mai
Morning visit to Mae Sai. After lunch, continue to the famous Golden Triangle, the former opium-growing region. Visit Wat Chedi Luang, a Buddhist temple in the center of the ancient town of Chiang Saen. En route, stop to visit the Lahu hill tribe village. (B,L)
Day 3: Chiang Mai
Tour to the beautiful hill temple of Doi Suthep, one of northern Thailand’s most sacred temples, which overlooks the city of Chiang Mai. Continue with a trishaw ride visiting other historic temples and the Muang Mai market. among the largest fruit and vegetable markets in the world. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Khantoke Dinner with performance. (B,D)
Day 4: Chiang Mai
Morning visit to the local market, followed by a Thai cooking class. Learn about Thai ingredients and cooking techniques. The afternoon is yours. (B,L)
Day 5: Chiang Mai | Pai
Morning visit an elephant training camp and a colorful Orchid Farm. Continue to drive to the hot springs at Pong Dued and to Baan Pa Pae, to walk on the trails around the area. Later, visit the local night market. (B,L)
Day 6: Pai | Mae Hong Son
Morning transfer to Mae Hong Son. En-route visit a Lisu village, home to one of the areas ethnic groups; the Tam Lod cave, with its attractive limestone stalactite formations making it one of Thailand’s most impressive caves; and the Fish Cave, a park with underground steam full of fish surrounded by a beautiful forest. After arriving in Mae Hong Son, enjoy an afternoon tour of some important temples. (B,L)
Day 7: Depart Mae Hong Son
Morning elephant ride through the jungle, followed by a long-tailed boat cruise along the Pai River, a popular place also for tubing and white-water rafting. Later, visit the Padongs hill tribe village of the “long-necked women”. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your return flight. (B,L)
