Saturday: Arrival in Prague

You will be welcomed at the airport by your English-speaking driver and transferred by car to your hotel. Enjoy leisure time to rest from the long trip, or to venture out and start exploring on your own. In the early evening, meet your tour manager and fellow travelers in the hotel lobby for a welcome event followed by dinner at a typical Czech restaurant where you will be immersed in the local culture in style, with a delicious meal and folklore performance! (D)

Sunday: Prague

Today we discover the most beautiful sights of Prague, often called “The City of a Thousand Spires.” We will explore the Hradcany castle and admire the Cathedral of St. Vitus, the old Royal Palace, and the Golden Lane—the very spot where the alchemists lived during the search for the philosopher’s stone. We will follow the road that takes us to the district called “Mala Strana,” or Little Prague and enjoy its narrow beautiful streets that lead to the Charles Bridge. Crossing this epic bridge, we find ourselves in the old town. Here, we will see the famous Astronomical Clock, learn about the history of the Jewish Quartier, stroll the Wenceslas Square and just revel in this lively European city. Your afternoon and evening are free, so you can enjoy the city at your own pace. (B)

Monday: Prague | Telc | Vienna

This morning we leave Prague and head toward Vienna, stopping on the way in Telc. This lovely town, situated in the Vysocina Region of the Czech Republic, is an architectural and artistic marvel. Its triangular marketplace is very unique and beautiful. Here, we will enjoy a short walking tour through the main area and some free time to have lunch or coffee. Later, we continue toward the Austrian border and arrive in Vienna in the afternoon. After some time at leisure, we will gather for an unforgettable Viennese experience—a formal dinner followed by a horse carriage ride to a classic Johan Strauss and Mozart concert at one of the prestigious Palaces of Vienna (B,D)

Tuesday: Vienna

Today we will get to know Vienna—its culture, stories, and sights. We start with a drive along the city’s main boulevard, the Ringstrasse, and pass by the Hofburg Palace, the Opera House, and the monument of Empress Maria Theresia located between the twin museums, Fine Art History Museum and Nature History Museum. We will also view the Parliament, City Hall, and many other architectural and historic landmarks, concluding with a walk through the lush Gardens of the Belvedere Palace for a panoramic tour to get oriented and decide where and how you want to spend your free afternoon and evening here in Vienna. (B)

Wednesday: Vienna Countryside

Today we will explore the beautiful Danube Valley, arriving first in Durnstein, a town built on the banks of the Danube River surrounded by historical vineyards and cultural monuments. From Durnstein we are able to get a glimpse of the ruins of Durnstein Castle, where King Richard the Lionheart was held captive. After a short walk through Durnstein, we will board a boat to sail along the mighty Danube River and marvel at the surrounding gentle hills and green woods. We will pass quaint riverside villages and finally arrive at Melk where we disembark and head to the Benedictine Abbey for a visit. Here, we will walk through a marble hall and admire the library and the church famous for its unique frescos. In 2008, this Abby was named the “Best Historic Destination of the World.” From here, we return to Vienna where the rest of the afternoon and evening is at leisure. (B)

Thursday: Vienna | Budapest

This morning it’s time to cross the border from Austria into Hungary, and time to get to know another marvelous city: Budapest. We will dive right into the history of this amazing city upon arrival, beginning in Pest where we will view the Parliament, the Heroes’ Square, and the Market Hall. Later, we cross the Danube to the Buda Hills to see the fascinating Royal Palace and Matthias Church. Our last stop today will be the Fisherman’s Bastion to enjoy panoramic views of the whole city. The afternoon will be free for you to explore Budapest on your own, stroll around Vaci Street, and discover the local life. Tonight, we will enjoy another cruise on the Danube, but here in Budapest it’s a dinner cruise, with a delicious Hungarian meal while you admire the Budapest city lights from the water! (B,D)

Friday: Budapest Countryside

This morning our excursion takes us to Lake Balaton, often called “The Hungarian Sea,” and the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe. We will visit several towns around the Lake, starting in Balatonfüred, the oldest wellness destination of Hungary. After a walking tour and some free time, we head to Siofok, the lively center of the southern area of the Lake. Our tour ends tonight with a mesmerizing farewell feast at a Hungarian Czarda, with delicious foods and an intimate look at the Hungarian lifestyle and culture. (B,D)
