Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel on the Mediterranean shore.
After breakfast, travel up the coast to Caesarea and visit the Roman ruins, where Paul was held prisoner by the Romans. Stop in Haifa to visit the Bahai Hanging Gardens and the Carmelite Monastery which houses the Madonna of Mt. Carmel. After time for prayer, stop in Nazareth (Luke 1:26-38), to visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, Mary’s Well and the Church of the Angel Gabriel. Then on to Cana (John 2:1-11; 4:46; 21:2), the village where Jesus performed his first miracle changing water into wine. Pilgrim couples will have a special opportunity to renew their wedding vows during Mass. (B)
Drive to visit Magdala, to see the recently discovered First Century Synagogue, where it is certain that Jesus taught and the Magdala Stone was discovered. Visit the holy site Capernaum (Matthew 4:12-25) to see the synagogue and St. Peter’s house, where Jesus would have stayed while ministering in the area. Visit the breathtaking Mount of Beatitudes (Luke 6:12-49) near the shores of the Sea of Galilee where the Sermon on the Mount was given and later for your unforgettable Mass. After a delicious St. Peters fish lunch, visit the Ancient Boat Museum before enjoying a peaceful boat ride across the Sea of Galilee where Christ walked on water. End your day with a stop in Yardenit on the Jordan River, to renew your Baptismal Vows.(B)
Drive to Mt. Tabor, scene of the Transfiguration, for Mass in the beautiful small church atop the mountain. Proceed to visit the traditional site of Baptism at Qasr El Yahud, where John baptized Jesus. At Jericho, the oldest town in the world, enjoy a view of Mt. Temptation (Luke 4:1-13), where Jesus fasted and was tempted by Satan. Continue to visit Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea scrolls were unearthed. Enjoy a swim (or rather a float) in the mineral-rich Dead Sea waters. (B, D)
Visit the Mt. of Olives to walk the Palm Sunday route stopping at Dominus Flevit (Luke 19:41), where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Your journey takes you to the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-56), where you will visit the Rock of Agony where Jesus prayed his last prayer before being arrested. Continue on to the Cave of Betrayal, the Cave of Assumption of Mary to Heaven and the Chapel of the Ascension from where Jesus ascended to Heaven. Visit Bethany (John 11:41-44) where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Then drive to Shepherd’s Fields (Luke 2:8-20) where the angels announced the birth of Jesus and celebrate Mass. Visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, which stands upon the site where Jesus was born. (B, D)
Early morning walk along the Via Dolorosa, in Jerusalem’s Old City, one of the highlights of your program. Pray along the Stations of the Cross as you walk the same path Jesus took. Visit St. Anne’s Church, the home of the Virgin Mary and her parents’ Saints Joachim and Anne. Reflect on the greatness of His sacrifice as you arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher for Mass. Continue to the Western Wall (the holiest place for Jews). Exit at Mt. Zion gate to visit the Upper Room (John 13:1-30), the location of the Last Supper and the Dormition Abbey where the blessed Mary died. In the afternoon you will have free time to rest or explore Jerusalem. (B, D)
Begin the day in the pictorial village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St. John the Baptist and visit the Church of Visitation, where the Blessed Virgin Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, and proclaimed the ‘Magnificat’. Visit Yad Vashem (the Holocaust Memorial Museum) and then the newly renovated Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea scrolls. (B, D)
