After check-out, travel with guide to Vientiane Airport for the flight to Luang Prabang, one of the most beautiful cities in Southeast Asia, located at the crossing of the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers and at the foot of an age-old mountain range. Guided city tour of history, architecture, and culture. Visit the Royal Palace, the National Museum which houses the sacred Prabang Buddha, the Vat Xieng Thong, the temple of the Royal City, and Vat Visoun, the oldest temple in the city. Optional: Traditional Baci Ceremony in a House with Dance Show (can combine after Luang Prabang city tour)
Attend a Baci (Sou Khouan) ceremony, one of the most popular traditions in Laos and which accompanies any important life event: weddings, funerals, births, illnesses, trips, etc. The officiating person will recall your souls (according to Lao belief, each human being has 32 souls) to attract beneficial influences towards you. A cotton string will be tied around your wrist symbolizing the wishes formulated in your favor. Afterwards enjoy a presentation of famous Lao dances and traditional music.
Early wake up to enjoy sunrise at Mount Phousi with a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. Then, step aboard a motorboat to travel on the Mekong River, past steep cliffs and small villages, to the Pak Ou caves, the most famous Buddhist site near Luang Prabang. The caves reveal thousands of Buddha statues inside. Return to hotel and spend the balance of day at leisure. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. (B,L,D)
