It is also considered to be a city of great relevance, as it is the only vestige on the Pacific Ocean shoreline. It is located in an area covered by lush forest vegetation, which has an abundance of birdlife. Travel to Huatulco and visit the beautiful church dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, home to the world’s largest painting of the Virgin on its ceiling. Explore an area of workshops where artisans work on their traditional handlooms made from colorful fabrics, a variety of handicrafts and black pottery. Wander through the small streets of downtown and smell and taste typical regional products, like Mezcal (the original Oaxaca version of the well-known Tequila), chocolate, coffee, regional cheese, grasshoppers and baked bread.
