Arrival in Mexico City

Today you will be met by your driver outside of customs (international flights) and will be privately transferred to the St. Regis Hotel. Early this evening enjoy a wine tasting of one of Mexico´s top wines at the Riviero Gonzalez wine Boutique located in Polanco. After the wine tasting we suggest that you walk through the beautiful tree lined streets of Polanco to enjoy dinner on your own at one of the many gourmet Mexican restaurants in the area.

Mexico City

This morning you will meet with Chef Maycoll at the J&G Grill Restaurant located in St. Regis to enjoy a market tour of “Mercado de San Juan”, one of the oldest and most unique markets in Mexico City, followed by a 5-course cooking class with wine pairing. Later this afternoon enjoy a brief walking tour (approx 3 hours) of downtown historical Mexico City. This experience concludes with a tasting at Que Bo, one of the most recognized “chocolaterias” in town, where you will taste and learn all about Mexico´s cacao and chocolate legacy over delectable artisan chocolate…a true delight for all of the senses! Today after breakfast a private transfer to San Miguel De Allende (an UNESCO World Heritage Site). Upon arrival, enjoy a walking tour of the colorful and art-filled city center to include visits to the most important sites Early this evening you are invited to experience a tequila tasting in Casa Dragones, home to one of the finest, premium tequila brands of Mexico. Visit the historic 17th century Casa Dragones house (otherwise closed to the public) attending to a private tequila presentation and degustation to discover the unique qualities of this limited edition, hand crafted Tequila. San Miguel de Allende

Start with a market tour where you will have a chance to meet local vendors, most of them women farmers from San Miguel de Allende´s surrounding countryside, who each day bring to the market what they have personally grown or produced – local vegetables, fruits, fresh and dried herbs, fresh cheeses, flowers, and fresh and dried chiles. After this vivid introduction to the abundance of local produce you will be ready for your cooking class where you will learn how basic ingredients can be used in creative and delicious ways. Hosted in Chef Paco Cardenas´ home, this is a hands-on class offers a chance for every participant to help prepare authentic Mexican dishes from scratch. Tie on an apron and get ready to start making salsas from different chiles and vegetables. You will also prepare dishes with the produce purchased from the market, perhaps nopales, squash blossoms, chiles poblanos, chayotes, or cuitlacoche, depending on what is in season. Chef Paco will also show you how to make sopecitos or tortillas with fresh homemade corn dough from real nixtamal. After the work in the kitchen, sit down, relax and enjoy the lunch you have prepared. You will receive a recipe packet for note taking. (B,L)

San Miguel de Allende

Today you will delve into the world of local wine with visits to two boutique wineries right outside of San Miguel de Allende; Dos Buhos and Viñedo Toyan. Start with a visit to Viñedo Toyan´s working organic farm, which produces an array of produce that is sold in local markets and at their very own produce shop. The visit to this rustic yet naturally beautiful farmland is transformed into a mystical journey upon arrival to their underground wine cellar, where your wine tasting will take place. Afterwards, visit neighboring Dos Buhos´ vineyard (also organic) and tour their property and wine making facilities. This special experience ends with a tasting in their new barrel room. (B)
