Day 1: Arrival in San Jose
Costa Rica is all about nature. You can feel it in the purity of the air the moment you land in this tropical country. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, unwind and get ready for your adventure.
Day 2: San Jose | Arenal
Early morning departure for a day of adventure. After a traditional breakfast of gallo pinto, get in the raft on the Pacuare River and explore the stunning river rapids and enjoy the majestic scenery among you. Enjoy lunch on the banks of the river before completing the last half of this water adventure. Then continue to the Arenal area where the stunning Arenal Volcano will welcome you. After arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon, the rest of the day is yours to rest and enjoy the hotel facilities. (B,L)
Day 3: Arenal
In the morning enjoy an exciting rappelling tour (also known as canyoning) on the Lost Canyon waterfalls. After your safety briefing, you will rappel down huge waterfalls, jumping into pools of slow-moving water, river tracing along the canyon, rappelling the canyon walls and river boulders and hiking up through the rainforest. In the afternoon, enjoy a nature walk and many chances to see wildlife in the Arenal Volcano National Park. You will also experience the volcano up close. Soak in the thermal waters near the volcano where you can swim and relax in this naturally heated hot spring. Dinner is included at the hot springs restaurant, so you can enjoy more time here. Day 4: Arenal | Monteverde
Depart the hotel by jeep and then boat across Arenal Lake to get to Monteverde. You can enjoy spectacular views of the volcano and find different species of birds while you navigate through the tranquil lake. Monteverde has one of the most important protected cloud forests found in the world. Not only will you have the opportunity to explore the forest, with its unique plants and animals, but also meet the friendly locals who enjoy living in harmony with Mother Nature. Later, you will ride gentle horses through the cloud forest, starting on a real coffee plantation, then continuing on dirt roads, trails, and some small rivers. (B)
Day 5: Monteverde
Today you will enjoy one of the most popular and highly rated activities in Costa Rica, the zip line or Canopy Tour as it is called locally. It consists of zip lining by means of cables between trees and mountains while you are wearing a special harness designed for the tour. While you “fly” through the dense cloud forest you can see and feel all the natural activity that is occurring within the treetops, such as, birds, insects and some mammals. The afternoon is yours to enjoy the hotel facilities or take one of the optional tours in the area. (B)
Day 6: Monteverde | Samara Beach
After breakfast, depart for Samara Beach, in the North Pacific area of Costa Rica. You will arrive early so you have the entire day to enjoy the beach and even admire the sunset by the end of the day. The beautiful and lively beach is surrounded by the tropical rainforest. The afternoon is free to enjoy the beach or explore the activities of this beach town. (B)
Day 7: Samara Beach
Choose a land or a water adventure: mountain biking on dirt roads and single tracks along the backroads of Samara beach and descending down mountainous hills surrounded by lush forest or ocean kayaking and snorkeling in clear waters among tropical fish. The second water adventure is surfing; you can learn how to surf (or improve your surfing skills). Samara is the perfect beach to learn how to surf because the ocean has little to no rip currents and the waves are small to medium size. After you return from your adventure, the day is yours to relax at the hotel. (B)
Day 8: Samara Beach | San Jose
After breakfast, transfer to San Jose, where the afternoon is yours to explore the city and visit museums or historical buildings. (B)
Day 9: Depart San Jose
Transfer to the airport for your return flight. (B)
