Here, you can enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant and get ready to start a relaxed and fun trip early tomorrow.
Early today you will be picked up by one of our representatives and start traveling south towards the surroundings of the rich Marino Ballena National Park where Dominical Beach is located. On the way, you will notice an important change in the vegetation as you descend down the mountains towards the coast. The temperature will, rise as well, and this is something you cannot miss for sure.
Your hotel is an oasis located in Dominical Beach just few minutes from the Marino Ballena National Park. Surrounded by lush gardens and old almond trees, the hotel is walking distance from Dominical Beach, the only beach in this country where you can find good waves to surf all year round. Due to these good conditions, surfing is one of the main activities in this area.
This afternoon you can admire the breathtaking sunset from the beach and enjoy the tranquility of the fresh ocean breezes. (B)
This area is well known for its ability to practice different water sports and spot exotic wildlife in its spectacular rivers and beaches. For that reason, we believe you should have the opportunity of choosing the activity for today. These are the best alternatives in the area:
Surf lessons: Surfing is a sport everybody should try; feeling the ocean breeze on your face while you “ride” the waves are an unforgettable sensation that you can never forget. Expert guides will teach you the basics of this popular activity on the sand first and once you are ready they will help you conquer the first waves by yourself. As a side note, some ability is required for this sport, but it is not too difficult to catch on. It is encouraging to think that many professional surfers started with a lesson like this when they were young.
Sea Kayaking: This activity takes place in the Marino Ballena National Park (Marine-Whale N.P.). As the name suggests, there are thousands of whales that swim close to this coast in search of warmer water for better conditions to give birth to their young. The main objective of this ocean trip is to practice snorkeling while also encountering many chances to see whales while you paddle. Your guide will let you know how to identify the whales from far away and how to safely get close to them. Whales are around this area from January to March and from July to September every year.
Tubing at Baru River: This is a fun and adventurous way to enjoy nature from a huge fresh water river. Baru River resides on high elevations and is totally surrounded by dense Rainforest which makes it possible to find many species of wildlife. The best way to explore this magnificent river is comfortably seated on a specially designed tube in which you are in direct contact with the water but also have the freedom to change direction and look around in the search for animals. Your guides will show you how easy it is to “drive” the tubes on the water and give you all the safety recommendations to ensure that your tubing trip will be smooth sailing.
You will return to the hotel after the activity you choose and have the rest of the day free to do whatever you like. (B)
Today you will travel northwest to the Central Pacific area by shuttle transportation (shared service). While in route, you will see beautiful beach towns that seem to be 10 years behind in time. Although, there is not much time to visit them, you can have a good idea of how life is like by the Pacific Coast.
You will arrive to Jaco Beach by midday and the afternoon will be free to explore or enjoy the facilities of your beachfront hotel. (B)
Today you can choose one of the following alternatives to enjoy your day with nature:
Jungle River & Crocodile Adventure (boat tour): After a short drive, you will arrive to the Tarcoles River where a comfortable boat will be waiting for you to begin your fluvial navigation along the river. This adventure will show you all the wonders of the rainforest including wild animals. While you explore the Tarcoles River, your nature guide will point out different kinds of mammals, birds, and reptiles that coexist in this mangrove ecosystem. Depending on the season, you may be able to spot different migratory aviary species, but the most interesting will be the huge American Crocodiles.
Zip line (Canopy tour): This is the perfect way to explore the Rainforest from the bottom to the canopy. The property where you will enjoy this adventure boasts spectacular views of the Herradura Bay and Island. The adventure starts with a 15-minute ride aboard a specially designed tractor called the “rainforest limousine”. Once you are at the top of the mountain, the expert guides will explain step by step all the safety procedures and directions you most follow to enjoy this adventure. Once you have the equipment ready you will start the descend to the bottom via a series of zip lines, including 14 platforms and 12 cables with a total cable distance of 3.5 miles including the longest cable in the area (2400 ft.).
Horseback Riding and Waterfall Tour: This is one of the most fun ways to discover the wonders of the rainforest. On this tour you will ride some of the best-kept and gentle horses. The ride takes place on a private, exclusive 80-acre property, where you will also enjoy a private refreshing waterfall. The tour starts at the beautiful Herradura Beach. Once you arrive to the property, the guides will equip you with helmet and assign a specific horse for you, then you are ready to depart on your journey to the waterfalls and swimming pools. Along the way, you will see farms and get a closer look at nature as you start ascending through the rainforest. Upon arrival to the river swimming area, your bilingual guide will offer you some fresh fruit and water and you will have some time to relax and enjoy the waterfalls and natural waterslide.
