Arrive in “Colonia Del Sacramento” and transfer to hotel. Begin a guided walking tour along the cobbled streets of the old town and visit the Spanish and Portuguese Museums and the most important tourist spots of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Finish the day with a traditional “Mate” tasting and discover the cultural importance of this ever-present local infusion.
After breakfast, transfer to Carmelo for a tour of “La Calera de las Huérfanas,” Jesuit ruins where the Uruguayan history of wine begins at the Zubizarreta vineyards. Continue to one of the oldest vineyards in Uruguay, Almacen de la Capilla – Bodega Cordano, to enjoy a selection of different varietals and tour of the property before visiting Bernardo’s boutique winery, El Legado. Taste the flavors of a typical Uruguayan asado, sampling various meats and other savory dishes. Travel to Finca Narbona Wine Lodge where guests will dine and spend the night. (B)

Picnic lunch in the vineyards and late afternoon wine and cheese pairing tasting in the cellar guided by the winemaker of Finca Narbona. Just before sunset at the secluded marina of Club del Faro, board a boat for a tour through the islands of the Delta, where the waters of Río de la Plata and Rio Uruguay meet. Hear the legends of the Uruguayan coasts and its shipwrecks before we toast to an amazing sunset. (B,L)
