Overland journey from La Paz to Copacabana, located at the shores of Lake Titicaca. Once in Copacabana, visit the shrine and the Dark Virgin. Hydrofoil cruise to Moon Island and visit the Sun Virgins Temple “Iñak Uyu”. Continue to Sun Island and visit the Inca “Grand Stairs” and the Sacred Fountain where you can drink the water believed to give eternal youth and happiness. Enjoy lunch at an archaeological restaurant, then return by hydrofoil to Huatajata and overland back to your hotel in La Paz.(B, L)
Transfer to the airport for your ﬂight to Uyuni. Visit Uyuni salt flats, the largest on earth, then Isla Pescado, also called “Incawasi”, an oasis with formations of algae and fossils. It is covered by thousands of giant columnar cacti, which can be more than a hundred years old, growing to a height of over 36 feet. (B, L, D)
Enjoy a full-day excursion to the small village of Tahua, at the foot of Thunupa Volcano. Stroll through the village and hike to the cave of the Coquesa Mummies. (B, L, D)
Overland journey to Red Lagoon, situated at an altitude of close to 13,000 feet above sea level, considered to be the most important ﬂamingo watching site in the region. Continue to “Sol de Mañana” geysers, with spectacular formations of fumaroles and volcanic craters. Continue to Green Lagoon, whose water surface has the appearance of a giant emerald. In the afternoon you have the choice of either returning to La Paz or transferring to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. (B, L)
