DAY 1
Belize City | Chaa Creek

Morning arrival in Belize. Visit the Belize Zoo. After lunch, travel to Xunantunich, the largest archeological site in the Belize River Valley. Then continue to Chaa Creek in the Cayo District where you’ll find a dramatic mix of mountains, waterfalls, caves, jungle, wildlife and archaeological ruins. (L, D)

DAY 2
Chaa Creek | Tikal (Guatemala) | Chaa Creek

Full day tour at the famous ruins of Tikal (Guatemala). Visit the pyramids, Palace of the Nobles and the Lost World Complex. (B, L, D)

DAY 3
Chaa Creek

Enjoy a morning guided bird watching tour at the Chaa Creek Nature Reserve, with over 280 species of resident and migratory birds. Continue on to visit the cave system which was part of “Xibalba” (the Maya Underworld)! After lunch, walk through a river surrounded by towering cliffs. Stop for a refreshing swim in the pools beneath Vaca Falls. (B, L, D)

DAY 4
Chaa Creek | Plaencia

Morning visit to the Natural History Center and Butterfly Farm, followed by a scenic ride to the Western Highway to board your canoe down the Macal River. After lunch, continue to Placencia via the Hummingbird Highway. (B, L, D)

DAY 5
Plaencia

Adventure at Monkey River, where you glide up the river by boat and hike over newly cut trails in the rain forest to get a close-up view of howler monkeys, rare birds, crocodiles and iguanas. (B, L, D)

DAY 6
Plaencia

Guided tour of the Belize Barrier Reef (the second-largest in the world) and the many beautiful nearby cayes, which are for great snorkeling. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Robert’s Caye, where the island’s only inhabitants – a family of osprey – will greet you. (B, L, D)

DAY 7
Plaencia

Today, explore the world’s first jaguar preserve. Although it is not likely that you will spot a great cat, an experienced guide will lead you through its habitat in the rainforest. Time to swim under the waterfall and try river-tubing. (B, L, D)

DAY 8
Depart Plaencia

Transfer to the local airport for your flight to Belize City. (B)
