Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Natural History Museum, well known for its splendid dinosaur exhibits. Evening city tour, visiting the Zaisan Memorial, a hilltop war memorial, that offers a spectacular panoramic view of the city. (D)
Day 2: Ulaanbaatar | Terelj National Park
Continue to tour the city, including a visit to Gandantegchinlen Monastery, the Megjid Janraisig (Avalokiteshvara) Temple and the Museum of National History, with excellent displays of several millennia of Mongolian history. Later, drive to Terelj National Park and the Khan Khentii Protected Area, home to nearly 2,000 species of flora and fauna, including some endangered species as well as the famous Turtle Rock. Continue to visit a local family and dinner in your overnight camp. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Terelj National Park | Ulaanbaatar
Morning drive to the Genghis Khan statue and 13th Century Theme Park. Here, you can explore and experience the way of life, customs, tradition and military activities of 13th-century Mongolia. (B,L,D)
Day 4: Ulaanbaatar | Gobi Desert | Yol Valley National Park
Morning flight to the Gobi Desert, one of the most famous and exotic deserts in the world. Despite its harsh environment with extreme temperatures and seasonal changes, the Gobi is surprisingly full of wildlife. Later, depart to Yol Valley National Park for a trekking tour. Yol Valley is the narrow canyon of the river that flows through Zuun Saikhan Mountain. Then drive to your Base Camp for dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 5: Yol Valley National Park
Excursion to Bayanzag, also known as Flaming Cliffs due to the area’s red and orange color sandstone. Explore the Cemetery of Dinosaurs, where some of the world’s best-preserved dinosaur skeletons were excavated, and the trail of Roy Chapman Andrews, a former explorer whose expeditions brought the first-known fossil dinosaur eggs to an American museum. Then visit a camel breeder’s home to learn about the lifestyle of nomads in the Gobi Desert. Try a camel ride before continuing on to the Moltsog Sand Dunes. (B,L,D)
Day 6: Yol Valley National Park | Ulaanbaatar
Morning flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival, visit the Bogdo Khaan Winter Palace Museum, home of the last Mongolian King. Your final afternoon is free for you to explore the city. (B,L,D)
Day 7: Depart Ulaanbaatar
Transfer to the airport for your return flight. (B)
