Welcome to Havana! Upon arrival, transfer to your elegant hotel in the oceanfront Vedado district, considered the Beverly Hills of Havana. Panoramic bus tour through modern Havana and the Plaza de la Revolucion. In the evening a Welcome to Cuba dinner. (D)
Explore Old Havana and admire the ongoing restoration transforming this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit a community-based maternity center and meet with both the pregnant women and their healthcare providers. In the afternoon, return to explore Old Havana, including a visit to Convento de Belen, home to a community center providing social services and care. (B,L,D)
Visit the Lizt Alfonso Dance Company Center/School/Theater in Old Havana and see their performances, which combine many dance styles. After lunch travel to the port of Havana for a visit to the famous Almacenes de San Jose crafts market. Later, a cooking class and dinner at a privately-owned restaurant. (B,L,D)
Visit the Museum of Fine Arts Cuba Pavilion with a specialized female guide/curator who can talk about the work of the women artists exhibited there. Then visit the home studio(s) of important women artists. Cultural option – The Cuban National Ballet or the Symphony. (B,L,D)
Visit the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) national headquarters. In the afternoon, visit a very interesting community project where they have workshops on gender equality, violence against women, dance, spirituality and empowerment. They also work with young LGBT people. Afterwards, tour the Museum of the Revolution，housed in what was the Presidential Palace of all Cuban presidents before the Cuban Revolution(B,L,D)
Day-long excursion to the Province of Artemisa to the sustainable community of Las Terrazas, a UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserve. Learn about this unique community as we stroll through its small village center and visit its local artists’ studios, school and family clinic. In the afternoon, tour and hike through the reserve. Visit the Union of the Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) for a panel presentation and discussion with female writers and poets. The afternoon is yours at leisure. In the evening, a farewell dinner followed by a show. (B,L,D)
