Day 1: Arrival in Leon
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Leon
Full-day at Casa Hogar Santa Lucia, a school for blind children from various parts of Nicaragua. The school provides non-sighted children with lodging, food, clothing, medical care, medicine, understanding and affection. They have a period of adaptation and training in different learning activities including music, crafts, physical therapy and writing in Braille. The goal is to help the children be independent in the future and be integrated into mainstreamed into society. (B,L)

Day 3: Leon | Granada
Tour the colonial city of Leon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, abandoned in 1610. See a breathtaking view of the Momotombo volcano and Lake Xolotlan. Then continue to the city of Leon to see the main churches including the monumental cathedral, the largest in Central America, the birdhouse of Ruben Dario, the Ortiz Gurdian Art Gallery and the El Convento hotel with its colonial architecture. During the walking tour, you get to know the historic murals of the city and understand the role Leon played in the social, economic and political development of Nicaragua. Visit the Hervideros de San Jacinto and see the boiling mud inside craters. After lunch, stop at the Masaya Volcano and see its active Santiago crater. Visit the Masaya Market to see and buy some arts and crafts at the local market, then continue to Granada (B,L)

Day 4: Granada
City tour of Granada with its colonial churches, narrow streets and large homes with beautiful indoor patios, tiled roofs and pretty colonial colors. See La Merced Church, the famous Casa de Los Tres Mundos and the San Francisco convent, home to an impressive collection of pre-Columbian sculptures. After lunch, visit the Choco Museum and follow all the processes to make chocolate from fermented organic cacao beans. At the end of the 2-hour workshop, sample your very own handmade Nicaraguan chocolate. Continue to Lake Nicaragua, and enjoy a relaxing boat ride around some of the islands formed by the impressive Mombacho volcano. Enjoy great landscape views and wildlife. (B,L)

Day 5: Granada
Spend the day in Happy Heart, a center for special-needs children and adults founded in 2006. (B,L)

Day 6: Granada
Head to the Mombacho volcano for a nature walk. Be amazed by the biodiversity of this natural reserve, surrounded by lush vegetation. Enjoy breathtaking views from the summit of this cloud forest. After an approximately 2-hour walk, gear up for a canopy tour on cables that connect platforms located at the very top of enormous trees. (B,L)

Day 7: Granada
Spend the day at Calos A. Bravo School, where the children and teachers receive year-round environmental education and take an active part in field trips to understand the importance of protecting the environment. You can help the children with donations (notebooks, pencils, erasers, etc.) to use in their studies. Also, you will have an opportunity to repair some common areas of the school, paint classrooms and engage in activities with the children. (B,L)

Day 8: Granada | Departure from Managua
Transfer to Managua airport for your flight home. (B)
