Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted and escorted to your hotel.
Day 2: Delhi
Enjoy a full-day city tour of Delhi. Begin exploring the Indo-Islamic culture and lifestyle in Old Delhi along the busy, narrow streets surrounded by shops and bazaars. Visit the largest mosque of Old Delhi, Jama Masjid—which can accommodate 20,000 people. Continue to the Parliament Building, Rashtrapati Bhawan (home of the president). Later continue to two UNESCO World Heritage sites: Humanyun’s Tomb, built in the 16th century and considered the architectural forerunner of the Taj Mahal and the 240 foot high Qutub Minar, the tallest minaret in the world. Day 3: Delhi | Agra
Morning drive to Agra. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. In the evening, visit the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This 450-year-old walled city was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty. (B)
Day 4: Agra | Jaipur
Morning visit to the legendary Taj Mahal, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, recognized as the jewel of Muslim art in India and a universally admired masterpiece. Later in the day, drive to Jaipur where you will have a very special visit to a local Indian family for a cooking class followed by dinner. (B,D)
Day 5: Jaipur
Drive to Amber, the ancient capital that preceded Jaipur. Ride up its imposing hilltop by elephant and explore the maze of passages, corridors, pavilions, ornamental gardens, and ramparts. Later, proceed to the City Palace, home of the royal family. Walk to the adjacent UNESCO World Heritage site Jantar Mantar or Astronomical Observatory, with the world’s largest stone sundial. Later enjoy a high tea at Rambagh Palace and meet a palm reader who will tell you your future! (B)
Day 6: Jaipur | Jodhpur
Morning yoga session, then drive to Jodhpur, known as ‘blue city’ because of the indigo-washed houses in the old town. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to relax or explore. (B)
Day 7: Jodhpur
City tour of Jodhpur, including the majestic Mehrangarh Fort and the beautiful Jaswant Thada. Continue with Bishnoi village to meet the people who sacrifice their lives to save trees and animals as a sacred responsibility. (B)
Day 8: Jodhpur | Udaipur
Morning drive to Udaipur. On the way, stop to visit the Ranakpur Temples, one of the best complexes of Jain religion which is particularly noted for the grandiose scale of its architecture and the highly decorated ceilings. (B)
Day 9: Udaipur
Morning visit to the City Palace, a series of interconnected palaces that reveal private apartments, airy gardens on the upper floors, paintings and portraits, and a miniature painting gallery. View a splendid private collection of crystal, before seeing the Maharana’s collection of vintage cars. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola. (B)
Day 10: Udaipur | Departure from Delhi
Transfer to the airport for your flight for Delhi, where you can connect to your return flight home. (B)
