Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Dublin | Belfast
Welcome to Ireland! Upon arrival, you will head North to ‘Braveheart’ country. The area itself is home to dozens of spiritual sites mentioned throughout Irish history, however, your stop will be in the market town of Trim for tea & scones and visit the ruins of the 12th-century Trim Castle. It was a Norman castle, built to mark out the edge of ‘the Pale’, the area controlled by the English against attacks by the natives. The castle was transformed into the English town of York for the movie Braveheart and was also used as the London Square during the movie. Continue to Belfast for a stay near the Titanic Studios where Game of Thrones is filmed. The famous Titanic Docks are also here where the HMS Titanic was built and fitted out before departing for Liverpool.

Day 2: Belfast | Portrush
In the morning, you’ll visit Game of Thrones “Winterfell.”  Located in County Down, your visit takes you to the castle and forest made famous in the series. Travel up around the Causeway Coast and see more famous sites from the Game of Thrones series, the Iron Islands, the Dothraki Grasslands and if you are lucky, you’ll get a quick peek at ‘The Wall’ as we pass. ‘Your Highness’ was also made in this area using Dunluce Castle and the Giants Causeway as backdrops (Malin Head on the Inishowen Peninsula has recently been used for filming in the new Star Wars VIII movie). (B)

Day 3: Portrush | Omagh | Galway
Travel down to Omagh this morning, making a stop at the Ulster American Folk Park, an open-air museum that tells the story of three centuries of Irish emigration. Wander through the cobbled streets, thatched cottages and log cabins and meet costumed characters who will show you traditional crafts, tell you a few stories and maybe even share a bit of their good food. Board a full-scale emigrant ship to experience the conditions faced by many as they set sail for a new life in America. The park is a wonderfully unique experience, for families and visitors of all ages. You’ll also stop at the Marble Arch Caves where another Game of Thrones site is located – Pollnagollum Cave, County Fermanagh.  (B)

Day 4: Galway
Full-day excursion to the Gaeltacht area of Galway, where the Gaelic language is still spoken. Visit the beautiful Connemara where scenes were filmed for movies such as Marley and Me were shot. Stop for a drink in O’Dowd’s in Roundstone, the village where the Matchmaker was made. Then take a walk in the footsteps of John Wayne and Maureen O’Sullivan in the iconic Quiet Man. (B)

Day 5: Galway | Dublin
