Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Welcome to Lima! You will be met and transferred to your hotel to unwind and relax.

Day 2: Lima
After breakfast, visit one of Lima’s famous markets to see the amazing variety of fish, fruit, and vegetables used in Peruvian food. Afterwards, you will watch as the chefs from a famous restaurant demonstrate how to prepare Peru’s main dishes. Rounding out this culinary experience is a delicious lunch with your family. In the afternoon try the optional tour of the Magic Fountains Circuit (not available on Monday and Tuesday) including the impressive Magic Water Circuit, the Guinness Records holder as the world’s largest water fountain complex in a public park. Day 3: Lima | Cusco | Sacred Valley
After breakfast, transfer to airport for flight to Cusco. Arrive in Cusco and discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca’s Balcony. Afterwards, go to the Ollantaytambo Fortress, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire and the town of Ollantaytambo, the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. Day 4: Sacred Valley
After breakfast, go to the community of Mullaka’s Misminay in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Learn about the lifestyle of Andean families by joining them in some of their daily tasks. Descend to the archaeological complex of Moray on mountain bike. Continue to Maras and stop for a picnic lunch with an amazing view of the mountains. After a short break, continue by bike to descend to the salt mines of Maras. (B,L,D)

Day 5: Sacred Valley | Machu Picchu
Train ride to the city of Aguas Calientes then continue by bus to the Machu Picchu archaeological site. Your tour includes every nook and cranny of this UNESCO World Cultural site and one of the New 7th Wonder of the World, making for an experience you will never forget. After lunch at the famed Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, you have free time to explore the site on your own, relax or meditate. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Machu Picchu | Cusco
The morning is yours to explore or relax. In the afternoon, you will board a train back to Ollantaytambo. Arrival and transfer to the hotel for rest. (B)

Optional: Bus and entry tickets to Machu Picchu and explore at leisure all morning. Possible hikes include “Huayna Picchu” Mountain, the “Sun Gate” or the Inca Bridge.

Day 7: Cusco
After breakfast, a half-day walking about the city of Cusco beginning at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace. Continue on foot to a neighborhood of Cusco where the city’s finest artisans in live and work. (B)

Day 8: Cusco | Departure from Lima
In the morning, learn the different techniques for making lovely pieces of pottery, from the hands of a famous local potter. After the class, you can choose one piece of pottery to decorate by yourself and take it with you as a beautiful souvenir. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima, to connect with your return flight home. (B)
