Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Buenos Aires
Arrive in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina! Meet the tour guide and transfer us to the hotel. In the afternoon, we will have a tango class, with an expert teacher, in a real milonga, well known for its daily tango performances. This is a great occasion to have fun while trying the traditional Latin rhythms of this country.

Day 2: Buenos Aires
Spend the day in the countryside at a typical ranch. Be welcomed with a drink and some empanadas. Experience a gaucho-style barbecue lunch of grilled beef, chicken, pork sausages, salads, dessert and coffee. Enjoy a traditional folklore show with live music and dancing, followed by ‘Cuadreras’ and ring races where the gauchos will show their skills as riders. Have the opportunity to participate in these activities. Ride around the field on horse and carriage. Later on, home-made pastries and mate tea will be served. Return to the hotel. (B,L)

Day 3: Buenos Aires | Salta

Explore its stunning colonial architecture and learn about its history through the many old monuments and extremely rich culture. Visit the main Cathedral (built in 1855), Cultural Centre America (a historical museum of the sacred art) and other sites. Conclude the day at a traditional market. (B)

Day 4: Salta
In the morning, travel towards the canyon of Quebrada de Los Toros with a stop to visit the ancient archaeological remains of the ruins of Tastil before getting to the village of San Antonio de Cobres, an Andean settlement sitting at an altitude of 3,776 meters above sea level. Continue along to Salinas Grandes, whose giant white surface plays with our perspective. Next, visit a typical Andean village and see a beautiful and colorful landscape. Stop for lunch (not included) in San Antonio Village, with time to discover the artisan local culture and traditions. (B)

In the afternoon, a guided walk around Puerto Madryn. The ruins of the first Welsh settlement, located in Punta Cuevas, are where the most ancient housing units in Patagonia were built. Discover more about the history of the Indian and Welsh culture. Next, see General San Martín Square where the most ancient buildings in town are located, as well as the church and many museums. The monument to the Tehuelche native is reachable by following the Indian’s Road, which borders the coastline between the dunes and the shore. From there, enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the beaches, industrial park and the entire city. (B)

Day 6: Puerto Madryn | Punta Valdes | Puerto Madryn
Early the morning departure for Puerto Pirámides, located just an hour outside the town of Puerto Madryn. The route to the national park is a beautiful drive full of scenery and lush green pastures, contrasted by tall prairie grasses. Upon arrival at the national park, take a drive along the peninsula to see the water and national park. Upon reaching the tip of the peninsula, board a boat for whale-watching! Arrive at Punta Delgada, around midday, and enjoy lunch at a resort. There, have the opportunity to go down the cliffs and walk near the seals and sea lions. Next, head towards Punta Cantor to see the external coast of the peninsula and get to Caleta Valdés (also known as Valdés Inlet). Upon arrival in Punta Tombo, hike through the interpretative paths traced around the nests of more than 500,000 Magellan penguins that gather in this colony every year. Tour around the reserve and appreciate the funny way of walking of these sea birds and their curiosity as they approach us. It is very important to remember that it is not permitted to speak loudly, touch, feed or bother the animals at this natural reserve, where they live freely in their habitat. Also see many other species of sea birds that build their nests in this colony such as seagulls, petrels, Antarctic pigeons, vapor ducks, cormorants and little seagulls. Some dolphins occasionally approach the bay searching for fish. Lunch is included. (B,L)
