Day 3 | Monday · October 5, 2026 | Trogir – Stari Grad
This morning we will sail a couple of hours to Stari Grad where we will enjoy our next swim stop.
Stari Grad is a town on the northern side of the island of Hvar in Dalmatia, Croatia. One of the oldest towns in Europe, its position at the end of a long, protected bay and next to prime agricultural land has long made it attractive for human settlement.
We will have time to explore in the afternoon, after our visit to the Tvrdalj Fortress.
Tvrdalj of Petar Hektorović, the fortified holiday house of its namesake poet and author of Fishing and Fisherman’s Talk (orig. Ribanje i ribarsko prigovaranje), the first realistic epic of the Croatian Renaissance, is the most famous building in Stari Grad and one of its symbols.
This Renaissance poet, Christian thinker, and builder built this fort meticulously for a long time, and it held as much meaning for him as his literary work. By building the Tvrdalj, Hektorović realized his idea of creating a microcosm; a small, enclosed space for all God’s creatures – fish, birds, plants, and people.
Tvrdalj’s most prominent feature is its fishpond surrounded by a porch, inhabited by fish (mullet), and with a dovecot rising above it. It’s most likely that the fish pond originated from an ancient pool or port related equipment. Behind it, towards the south, lies a carefully tended garden with plants sent to him by his friends, the poets of Dubrovnik.
In the evening, get on the short transfer to the heart of the Stari Grad Plain. Once here, enjoy the 2400 years of local history, and learn the story of the field that has fed dozens of generations of Hvar’s population.
Enjoy Peka, the traditional Croatian dish of veal, lamb, and vegetables, as well as 4 different types of local wine, 3 types of olive oil, and many other local dishes and ingredients, as part of this paired experience. Return transfer to Stari Grad after dinner.
Overnight in Stari Grad.

Day 4 | Tuesday · October 6, 2026 | Stari Grad – Biševo Blue Cave – Vis

We can only know about the sea conditions and the possibility of entrance on the same morning of the visit.
Lunch will be served onboard and we’ll make some swim stops along the sail.
We will arrive in Vis in the afternoon. Vis is a small town on the homonymous island, well known for its strategic importance through the years. On a nearby hill, the prehistoric cave of Vela Spila, hides secrets from millennia ago, and Oliver Dragojević, the most famous and beloved Croatian singer of all time, rests in peace in the local cemetery.
As we dock in the old port, the town spreads before us. Shops, restaurants, bars and the tiny alleys call for us to explore.
On the nearby hill of Pinski rat, 130 meters above sea level, a prehistoric site awaits.
As we climb towards the summit, we are shaded by the ancient olives and carob, which have fed generations of Velalučani, as the locals call themselves.
The cave has been confirmed as inhabited for over 22 thousand years, and has been explored since the 70ies. The commanding location offers clear lines of view to every corner of the Vela Luka bay.
