Split, Croatia is a captivating blend of ancient history and vibrant seaside culture, making it one of the most popular destinations on the Adriatic coast. Wandering its narrow stone alleys feels like stepping back in time, with historic architecture seamlessly blending into modern life. The city’s bustling Riva promenade offers stunning sea views, perfect for a leisurely stroll, while the nearby Marjan Hill provides panoramic vistas and peaceful walking trails above the coastline.
Beyond its historic core, Split offers a dynamic mix of beaches, local markets, and Mediterranean cuisine. Visitors can soak up the sun at Bačvice Beach, sample fresh seafood at the local konobas (taverns), or take day trips to nearby islands like Hvar and Brač.
With its warm climate, friendly locals, and deep cultural roots, Split is both a gateway to Croatia’s Dalmatian coast and a memorable destination in its own right—ideal for history lovers, adventure seekers, and sun-chasers alike.

Day 3 | Monday · October 5, 2026 | Trogir – Stari Grad
This morning we will sail a couple of hours to Stari Grad where we will enjoy our next swim stop.
Stari Grad is a town on the northern side of the island of Hvar in Dalmatia, Croatia. One of the oldest towns in Europe, its position at the end of a long, protected bay and next to prime agricultural land has long made it attractive for human settlement.
We will have time to explore in the afternoon, after our visit to the Tvrdalj Fortress.
Tvrdalj of Petar Hektorović, the fortified holiday house of its namesake poet and author of Fishing and Fisherman’s Talk (orig. Ribanje i ribarsko prigovaranje), the first realistic epic of the Croatian Renaissance, is the most famous building in Stari Grad and one of its symbols.
This Renaissance poet, Christian thinker, and builder built this fort meticulously for a long time, and it held as much meaning for him as his literary work. By building the Tvrdalj, Hektorović realized his idea of creating a microcosm; a small, enclosed space for all God’s creatures – fish, birds, plants, and people.
Tvrdalj’s most prominent feature is its fishpond surrounded by a porch, inhabited by fish (mullet), and with a dovecot rising above it. It’s most likely that the fish pond originated from an ancient pool or port related equipment. Behind it, towards the south, lies a carefully tended garden with plants sent to him by his friends, the poets of Dubrovnik.
In the evening, get on the short transfer to the heart of the Stari Grad Plain. Once here, enjoy the 2400 years of local history, and learn the story of the field that has fed dozens of generations of Hvar’s population.
Enjoy Peka, the traditional Croatian dish of veal, lamb, and vegetables, as well as 4 different types of local wine, 3 types of olive oil, and many other local dishes and ingredients, as part of this paired experience. Return transfer to Stari Grad after dinner.
Overnight in Stari Grad.
Inclusions: Breakfast, Lunch, Tvrdalj Tickets, Peka Dinner, Cabin.

Day 4 | Tuesday · October 6, 2026 | Stari Grad – Biševo Blue Cave – Vis

This mesmerizing natural attraction is breath-taking with its game of sunlight which creates a wonderful reflection from its white floor and bathes the cave in aquamarine light. Blue Cave can only be approached by boat and sometimes it can happen that due to winds, waves, and currents, the access to the cave is not possible. We can only know about the sea conditions and the possibility of entrance on the same morning of the visit.
Lunch will be served onboard and we’ll make some swim stops along the sail.
We will arrive in Vis in the afternoon. Vis is a small town on the homonymous island, well known for its strategic importance through the years. You will have free time to explore Vis at your own pace. Since it was closed during the time of ex-Yugoslavia, this wonderful island is still like an unspoiled and preserved oasis.

Day 5 | Wednesday · October 7, 2026 | Island of Vis – Vela Luka
We continue our journey towards the port town of Vela Luka, on the westernmost point of Korčula island. Vela Luka is one of the finest ports in the Adriatic, and has been home to generations of seafarers and fishermen.
It is also home to the longest mosaic in the world, which has been systematically expanded on the streets of Vela Luka since the 70s.
On a nearby hill, the prehistoric cave of Vela Spila, hides secrets from millennia ago, and Oliver Dragojević, the most famous and beloved Croatian singer of all time, rests in peace in the local cemetery.
As we dock in the old port, the town spreads before us. Shops, restaurants, bars and the tiny alleys call for us to explore.
On the nearby hill of Pinski rat, 130 meters above sea level, a prehistoric site awaits.
As we climb towards the summit, we are shaded by the ancient olives and carob, which have fed generations of Velalučani, as the locals call themselves.
The cave has been confirmed as inhabited for over 22 thousand years, and has been explored since the 70ies. The commanding location offers clear lines of view to every corner of the Vela Luka bay.
After this pilgrimage of sorts and reconnecting to our prehistoric roots, on the way back ,we stop to enjoy the stunning sunset over the bay.

Day 3 | Saturday · October 3, 2026 | Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvice Lakes National Park
Area Overview
Non-Croatians might not realize that there are seven National Parks in this southeastern European nation. That’s because Plitvice Lakes National Park gets the lion’s share of attention, overshadowing all other natural wonders in the region.
And for good reason. Once you set your eyes on this UNESCO World Heritage site’s turquoise-hued lakes connected via emerald green streams and lovely waterfalls, all of which are surrounded by lush forests of beech, spruce, and fir trees, you’ll get it. And you’ll wonder what took you so long to get here.
There is virtually nothing like Plitvice, pronounced “Pleet-veetz-say.” And it’s no trick being played on your eyes, no real life version of an Instagram filter: these radiant hues are worth traveling for. They’re real and they’re spectacular.
Various trails in the park make for great hiking. There’s also an electric train that ferries visitors through the area.
Following the visit to the park, enjoy a delicious local lunch before starting out towards Zadar.
Zadar
Area Overview
This ancient northern Dalmatian Coast town was relatively off the radar to international tourists until a few years ago. That’s when budget airlines commenced pointing themselves to the city’s airport and travelers began gravitating here as an alternative to Croatia’s other, more touristy seaside towns.
And like a lot of those well-known places along the Dalmatian Coast, Zadar has an old limestone-clad swath of city that confidently juts out to the sea, its centuries-old buildings, churches and shiny stone streets, inviting the visitor to get lost for a few hours. In the far reaches of the Stari Grad, or Old Town, closest to the sea, take note of the unique Sea Organ, a device created by a local artist in which underground pipes interact with the crashing waves to create a harmonious sound with each swell.
Like a lot of the Dalmatian Coast, Zadar was part of the Venetian Empire for a while, so if you see a few winged lions etched into buildings or mentions of St. Mark, you’ll know the connection. The town is also sprinkled with Roman ruins here and there, as it could not escape coming under a different Italian-based empire a couple of millennia ago.
Today Zadar is a small, accessible, and welcoming town with some fine restaurants serving up inspired and creative takes on Dalmatian fare, as well as some ambient taverns churning out hearty seafood dishes.
After stopping here to explore for a couple of hours, we continue towards Split.

Split
Area Overview
Croatia’s second largest city, sometimes a bustling and chaotic transportation hub, is often visited by foreign travelers just to jump on the ferry to islands like Hvar. But there are a few reasons why travelers should explore this central Dalmatian metropolis.
For starters, Diocletian’s Palace. One of the most striking ruins from antiquity, this 1,700-year-old Roman Emperor’s estate is not your average crumbling Roman mansion; the palace has been continuously lived in since its construction and today it’s an intriguing mishmash of shops, cafes, restaurants, and residences that make up about half of Split’s Old Town. A marble sphinx (swiped for Diocletian from ancient Egypt) lies next to an outdoor café, tall slender white pillars mingle with shoe shops that flank the narrow passageways, and half-standing archways make for dramatic entryways into restaurants.
A walk along the palm-lined Riva—a short seaside boardwalk in front of the palace—is the essence of the Mediterranean, where locals congregate to lick ice cream, gossip, and do a back-and-forth stroll, just like their ancestors have done for centuries.
Also worth a few hours of one’s time is to hike up Marjan Hill. This verdant mound overlooking the city provides excellent views and also is dotted with a few diminutive medieval churches that are fun to peek into. On the eastern side of the hill is a centuries-old Jewish cemetery.
Afterward, settle in at a local konoba, or tavern, and tuck into local delights such as grilled squid, fish carpaccio, and grilled lamb.
